A Lesson In Simplicity

Do you ever wonder what your dog’s day consists of? It can’t be much, can it? A couple naps, some food, some petting, some time outside, maybe a walk if he or she is good. That sounds pretty nice to us busy humans, doesn’t it? It sounds pretty simple.

So this is my dog. Yes, he is adorable. His name is Shadow.

Shadow likes attention. He likes to be scratched right behind the ears and on his belly. He likes to sleep under the covers and he likes to lay in our beds when we’re not home. He enjoys being outside, especially when it’s sunny. But more than anything, Shadow loves food. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is or where you are in the house, if food hits the floor, he’s eating it. And that’s Shadow.

That’s it, guys. That’s all you need to know about my dog.

In my endeavor to live simply I’ve taken a few lessons from Shadow.

1. Enjoy company.

2. Be thankful for a warm bed.

3. Rejoice in the warmth of the sun and the day that our Lord has made.

4. Find something wonderful to enjoy in each day, even if it is only a crumb that falls to the floor.
